Behind the Scenes at Studiozero-Vetro
What is your name?
My name's Caterina Zucchi.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Livorno-Tuscany, a small city on the west coast of Italy.
What do you love about jewellery?
I like jewels because they are objects that come to life on people.
When did you discover your love for jewellery?
I've always loved accessories but I needed to explore my particular point of view about it and try to give Murano glass jewels a new life.
How did you become a jewellery designer?
I don't know. Maybe I've always been. I'm not just a designer, first of all I'm a craftsman and I create the creations I think of.
Describe your style, what is most characteristic about Studiozero-Vetro's design?
They are inspired by shadows, architectures and nature. They are linear and elegant. They have many color contrasts.

Rock, folk and electronic.

Black Math - White Stripes.

My favorite piece is the BOOBS necklace from the series Ironic creations.
Which exciting things are coming up for Studiozero-Vetro? New lines planned?
I've just created the new Fall/Winter collectio 2017-2018 the name is SILHOUETTE.
How does a typical day at work look like?
Alarmclock rings at 7.15am. I have breakfast and after that I reach the studio by bike. It takes me 15 minutes. I like riding my bike, I feel free and I can see the sea next to the street. Normally, in the morning I work at the torch because I feel that my mind is fresh and very productive. At lunch time I go to the gym and afterwards I start stringing accessories and put them on the showcase of my showroom. I always do many different things everyday, maybe seem similar yet they are still somewhat different.
How do you source & make your jewellery?
I'm a glass blower and bead maker. Every single piece of glass is born by lampworking. The pieces are completely hand made and blown by mouth. SZV collections are made of mouthblown Murano glass. Shape and size of each glass bead originates from small gestures, the lowest use of tools, and no mould.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I really think that everything is inside of me. I just find the way to pull them out of my toughts.
Ring, Earrings, Necklace, Bracelet, or Bangle?
My favorite accessories are necklaces. I like the way they frame the face.
Mountains or beach holiday?
I live beside the sea, so on holiday I prefer mountains.
What's your favourite city?
Do you have a favourite jewel that comes with you on all your travels?
Yes, I've got my COME LA METTI LA METTI necklace, easy to wear, very comfortable and colorful. Always with me.
